I am pleased to say that not only can I brush my teeth pain free I have enjoyed a week skiing without any back issues. Jo’s class and approach is friendly and welcoming to all and I would highly recommend joining to anyone considering taking up Pilates.
Since joining Jo’s Pilates group, I haven’t looked back. Her class mixes the traditional with contemporary. All our exercises are based around the 32 moves / teachings of Joseph Pilates. Rather than running through them mechanically, to keep it fresh, Jo injects fun, changes the focus from week to week by using equipment ranging from resistance bands and rings to weighted balls, poles and gliders. She’s such a positive teacher, always seeking to help her students realise their potential and overcome any difficulties (mental or physical) that they face, modifying a move for their personal needs. Whether beginner, intermediate or advanced, Jo has experience and knows how to teach any ability and any mood of class. I should know, I’ve been a student of hers for nearly 10 years and feel very lucky to have found her.
She loves & fully understands Pilates & people & her classes are always invigorating & effective in terms of developing core strength & flexibility. They are clearly beneficial to one‘s wellbeing. Sometimes the class content is quiet but intense with an emphasis on precision & specific stretching & sometimes there is a more upbeat slant. Each class has a specific theme or concentrates on particular areas of the muscular skeletal system so that over a few sessions every aspect of Pilates is covered in depth. I love Jo’s classes & can’t imagine life without Jo & her Pilates class.

At the start, I was very weak, having just come home after a long hospital stay, having done little exercise. Jo has been able to come to my house to teach me Pilates weekly and my breath control, strength, stamina and confidence have grown considerably – so much so, that I have been able to attend some of Jo’s classes at Oakwood Physiotherapy Clinic during the last year and I can keep up with the other members of the class and she will always adapt and cater every session to each individual’s needs. I have also attended Jo & Jackie’s Pilates & Yoga Workshops which are always so much fun! Both my physical and mental health have improved since doing Pilates and I always look forward to each session, as it will be challenging, rewarding and enjoyable and will continue to improve my health. Jo is truly the kindest, best Pilates teacher out there!
I started her class 6 years ago and I have never looked back. Keeping up this regular practice has meant I have remedied any previous back and chest pains I had, have not had any pains since and have built up my strength and resistance. I am very conscious of a huge improvement in my physical and mental well-being. Whilst I have been attending each week for 6 years, no one class is the same with Jo and this is what I love. Her planning is meticulous to mix things up, together with the use of different props to keep it fresh. Jo is attentive, friendly and professional. Her classes are challenging yet great fun. Jo expertly deals with a range of abilities in her class and it is clear she knows how to make us reach our full potential, with tailor-made adjustments to suit our individual needs. Her warm personality means that all members of the group feel immediately welcomed and nurtured, however young or old- it’s like a family."
She has brought my confidence with exercise back to life, making me feel at ease with my back due to her attentive advice and reassurance during class.
Her sessions are extremely fun and she varies each class with the use of different equipment and exercises. I thoroughly enjoy coming to Jo’s classes because they are pure quality and you always get the individual advice and care you need even if it’s a full class.
My back tells me now when I haven’t seen Jo and I want to always have her classes in my life.
